Privacy Policy

The short version: Toolbit processes transformations locally in your browser. Network tools send requests only when you choose to run them. Optional product analytics collects minimized usage events; tool input and output are excluded.

Overview

Toolbit ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our developer utilities application.

Data Processing

All tools in Toolbit (JSON formatter, Base64 encoder, hash generator, etc.) process data entirely within your browser using JavaScript. This means:

  • Local transformations do not upload input. HTTP and WebSocket tools contact the endpoints you select.
  • Toolbit has no accounts or cloud workspace storage.
  • Processing happens instantly on your device.
  • Cached local tools work offline. Network tools require connectivity.

Local Storage

Toolbit uses your browser's local storage and IndexedDB to save preferences and convenience data:

This data is stored only on your device and is never transmitted anywhere. You can clear this data through the Privacy and storage settings or browser settings. History retention defaults to 30 days; applying retention removes expired entries only when you request it. Workspace payloads require an explicit Include data choice. Recipe files contain settings only.

  • Theme preference: Whether you prefer light or dark mode
  • Sidebar state: Whether the sidebar is open or closed
  • Favorites and recents: Your pinned tools and recent activity
  • History, workspaces, snippets: Normal tool history and explicitly saved documents; secret tools are excluded by default.

Cookies

Toolbit does not use cookies.

Third-Party Services

Toolbit uses the following external resources:

  • Cloudflare Pages: The web application is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, which may collect standard web server logs.

Analytics

Toolbit uses PostHog to measure pseudonymous product usage, diagnose errors, and improve the application. Analytics is off until you turn it on in Privacy and storage, and a browser that signals Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control is never tracked. When enabled, we collect a random device identifier, known route/tool identifiers, bounded counts, and error codes; turning it off removes the stored device identity immediately. We do not send the text, files, tokens, snippets, or other content you process with Toolbit.

Children's Privacy

Toolbit is a general-purpose developer tool and does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13 years of age.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
